The last 3 weeks have been amazing at Westside Family Church. We have had an extraordinary series called Indescribable (based on the Louie Giglio messages) that culminated in a pivotal message today on the God of Justice. Just an amazing message from Pastor Dave and something of an awakening for the church.
Last week we had a worship night called Immersion using water as the metaphor for being "in Christ." Not only was it a creative landmark for my team, but it was possibly the single most powerful worship experience I have had the opportunity to facilitate. The power of God's felt presence was extraordinary. People were jumping, kneeling and crying out to their Maker like I have rarely seen. People who have been at Westside for a decade were saying how they had never experienced anything like it. Truly awesome.
The beautiful thing about it is I have been sick for about two weeks now. My voice has really been in bad shape and was especially bad in our worship night. That speaks to two things that bring me great comfort. My team is so good that they covered in a wonderful way and acted like the lead worshipers they are even when I can't make a decent sound. And secondly, God clearly doesn't need me to be in top form to work mightily in His church. I showed up and did my best, as did my team. And in spite of our frail humanity, He did a work only He could take credit for.
That is humbling and awesome all at the same time.
I am a grateful man.
